If the weather changes

Let a snow day be part of the trip.

If the wind holds the lifts or the roads are slow, stay close: a walk in the snow, the village, a long lunch, then books by the window with the fireplace on. Check current hours before visiting anywhere.

Winter in Stowe: FAQ

How far is the house from Stowe Mountain Resort?

About 7 miles, under 15 minutes by car. Stowe Village is under 5 minutes away.

Is Route 108 through Smugglers' Notch open in winter?

No. Route 108 through the Notch is closed to cars in winter, so it is not a shortcut to Smugglers' Notch Resort in Jeffersonville. Plan a longer route around it and check Vermont road conditions after snowfall.

There is free driveway parking for 3 to 4 cars, and the entry has storage for skis, boots, bikes and other gear.

Will the house stay warm on cold nights?

Yes. Each bedroom has its own mini-split, and the open-plan living room is centred on a gas fireplace.

What can we do on a day off from skiing?

Book a massage at Stowe Village Massage or a treatment at SALT + GROVE, go bowling at Stowe Bowl, swim indoors at The Swimming Hole, or rent sleds and saucers at Shaw's General Store in the village.

Where should we go for après-ski?

The Alchemist, Après Only, the Matterhorn and Idletyme are all close by. Our bars and après guide has the full list, with directions.
