Who we are, and why Stowe.
Skog & Snø is run by Alex and Hunter, husbands of six years, with a local co-host close by in Stowe.
Who we are & why Stowe
We’re Alex and Hunter, husbands of six years who have been spending every winter weekend we can manage in Stowe since we moved to New England in 2018. We fell in love with the town, the people, the skiing, the pace of it, and kept coming back until it felt less like a vacation and more like somewhere we belonged.
After years of looking, we found a neglected property and knew immediately it was the one. We poured our savings into a gut renovation, driven by something pretty simple: we love making spaces that feel warm, clean, and genuinely welcoming. Somewhere people walk into and actually feel at home. After months of design work, we realized we want to make this a true destination. SKOG & SNØ was formed then, which means “forest and snow” in Norwegian. Given the natural beauty of Stowe, it just felt right for what we were building.
We wanted guests to have easy access to the village, the mountain, and the rec path without being on top of it all. You can be downtown in less than 5 minutes or at the slopes in less than 15, and come back to a home and yard where you can put your feet up, cook a meal, enjoy a wine, and sit by a fire, inside or out.
We weren’t just looking for a property. We were looking for a place we’d want to be ourselves, that we could share with people who love Stowe and Vermont the way we do.

Where the forest meets the snow“The place was in pristine condition and felt both very spacious and extra cozy. Very convenient being only a few minutes from town. Would absolutely stay here again next time we're in the area.”
